Trendwatch: New Bohemian
Those lucky enough to be heading off to Glastonbury this week will be relieved to hear that the sun is going to be making an appearance (it must be true the Met Office say so)!
With the likes of George Esra, Liam Gallagher, Kylie and Vampire Weekend set to entertain the crowd from the prestigious Pyramid Stage you’ll no doubt currently be rifling through your wardrobe and jewellery box to ensure that you’ll be sporting the perfect festival look.
Whether you are heading to a festival, off on your summer holidays or getting ready to embrace the looming heat wave, SS19 brings a new bohemian mood to explore. Focused on feminine styles using natural fabrics, multi-layered floral and ethnic-inspired prints it’s all about focusing on an abundance of layered accessories, the more, the merrier.
Kate Moss was, without a doubt, the ultimate bohemian style icon in the early 00’s. Images of Kate in wellies, floral rompers, vintage blouses, layered necklaces and flowing dresses are instantly conjured up with the likes of Nicole Ritchie and Sienna Miller soon following suit. So it seems fitting that the style queen herself is returning to her bohemian roots and bringing boho back.
But unlike the early 00’s gone are the days of hippy flower power look. New bohemian is dominated by nomadic, ethnic and tribal influences. Think vintage-style, african inspired necklaces, big pendants and layers and layers of bracelets. This is a refreshed, rebooted modern-hippy that’s cool and sensuously chic.
To help kick off your festival back-pack packing we’ve picked out eight of our favourite boho-inspired pieces to complement your naturally free-spirited style:
