Peridot

Peridot is a rare gem-quality crystal form of the more common olivine, found in the earth’s mantle and even on the moon. The intensity of the olive green colour can vary, and a step cut is often used to show off the peridot’s brilliance and lustre. Many peridots in ancient times and today have come from Jazirat Zabarjad (St. John’s Island), in the Red Sea.
