Trendwatch: 2019’s Top 5 Wedding Trends
Getting married this year? It’s the year of expressing yourself and if the Royal family can bend the old school wedding rules, then surely so can we!
Here are 5 trends that are going to be front-and-centre this coming wedding season:
Be it your best friend designing your wedding invitation, your maid-of-honour thoughtfully penning some prose as a modern twist on the standard reading, or personalised cocktails named after the countries you’ve travelled to as a couple, everything is set to tell the story of the happy couple and make your big day as memorable and personalised as possible.
Why not spoil your bridesmaids with some personalised earrings, you could even add their favourite gemstones to show how much you care.
Weddings are becoming a much longer affair with many spanning a whole weekend and there are numerous reasons why. Maybe friends and family are coming from abroad or you just want an excuse to party your socks off with your nearest and dearest for as long as possible. Whatever the reason, you’re going to need a range of jewellery to cover every eventuality.
This amethyst, citrine, garnet and topaz necklace is a real crowd-pleaser and it goes with everything from daytime jeans to full-on wedding guest frock.
An offshoot of the weekend-long wedding is festival-style wedding (or Festi-Wed as we’ve taken to calling them). Here, proceedings kick-off with a chilled vibe, slowly ramping up to the big day, followed by a much-needed recovery party; ideal to reminisce about all the goings-on of the day before. This tribal bracelet by Claudia Bradby will ensure you are on point with festival fashion for your big day.
Weekend wedding plans can be a costly option, but they do keep the fun going for as long as possible and hey, it’s not as though you’re going to get married every year, so why not make the most of it?
According to fashionistas in the know, the big white wedding dress has taken a back seat. Minimal dresses are making a resurgence; much helped by Meghan Markle looking effortlessly glamorous in her simple off-the-shoulder dress. Her understated look carried through to her jewellery choices with a stunning pair of diamond earrings adorning her ears.
If you’re not usually a ‘dress-girl’ and would feel more comfortable in something more ‘you’, then don’t despair, remember it’s a year of rule-breaking in fashion, so what about donning a silken jumpsuit.
Ice-cream shades and candy-coloured pastels are all the rage, so it’s hardly surprising that they are also clearly leading the way in this year’s wedding trends. Princess Eugenie was ahead of the game with her evening attire which was a spectacular dress designed by Zac Posen in a soft shade of blush.
Such soft tones have always lent themselves well to weddings; their delicate hues easily reproduced throughout a wedding theme in spectacular floral arrangements and dresses of petal-pretty tones that your bridesmaids will thank you for. This rose gold and rose quartz ring would make the perfect accessory.
Honing your 007
As with many of this year’s trends we have the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to thank for this one... Bringing back the sauve James Bond style beautifully cut tuxedo. We really do thank them, who doesn’t love a sharp white shirt and a tux!
It also offers the chance to play ‘Bond Girl’, so throw on your slinkiest little number and drape yourself in jewels for the evening reception. Any excuse to don a little luxury, like these 9ct brazilian garnet drop earrings.
So, there you have it. If you want to make your big day totally instagram-worthy, why not try one of 2019’s top wedding trends? Perhaps your theme is chosen and plans are well underway? Either way, you’re going to need jewellery perfectly suited to the occasion.
